Have you ever imagined Siena as a right destination for sport tourism<\/strong>? Maybe not, because the quiet mood of the town suggests relaxing activities or cultural routes: Siena is at the same time the place where competition reigns among contradas, and is the town where the Palio is the most awaited event of the year and every Senese knows how important are talent, commitment and hard work to win a race.<\/p>\n

For this reasons we are pleased to advise the second edition of Sport Siena Weekend<\/strong>, initiative that attracts sport tourism lovers, an increasing trend in the last years.
\nUnlike the first edition, SSW will take place during 4 weekends, from 28th February until 22nd March, a great advantage for who wants to visit Siena in this period.<\/p>\n

Among the many sporting events available we suggest a few to give you an overview of SSW: the Terre di Siena Ultramarathon<\/strong>, a foot race scheduled on Sunday 1st March, will involve the most experienced marathoners that will run from San Gimignano to Piazza del Campo following the Via Francigena route, an exciting itinerary and a tribute to the path followed by pilgrims in the Middle Ages.<\/p>\n

On Saturday 14th March will take place a non-competitive charity foot race organized by Siena Runners<\/strong>, departing at 3:30 pm from Piazza del Campo and divided into 8 km race, 4 km relay race and 4 km walk. On Sunday 15th March you cannot miss the horses parade in the historic center, \u201cA cavallo sulla pietra serena\u201d, dedicated to the symbol of so many emotions tied to victories but also to bitter defeats during Palio.
\nThere will be room for trendy sports as Nordic walking<\/strong>, scheduled on Saturday 21st March at 3:00 pm at the Medicea Fortress: those who have never practiced this sport can join free lessons and start to practice along the medieval alleys of Siena.<\/p>\n

In addition to the sporting events you can attend shows and exhibitions related to the activities that will enliven the streets of historic center.
\nAt the Magazzini del Sale of Public Palace there will be an exhibition of vintage cars and vintage motorcycles<\/strong>, open until 22nd March; at Rinnovati Theater there will be a concert of Uto Ughi and Alessandro Specchi<\/strong> on Saturday 28th February. On Sunday 22nd March, at Rinnovati Theater there will be the athletic dance performance \u201cSinfonie fantastiche\u201d, the last event of Sport Siena Weekend.<\/p>\n
