is a reference to the generous hospitality of Senese people.

<img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-3263 size-full" title="Siena churches" data-original="https://palazzoravizza.it/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Chiesa_di_San_Pietro_alla_Magione_siena-1.jpg" ="San Pietro alla Magione Church in Siena" width="950" height="681" />

Here begins Via Camollia, where are located three important places for pilgrims who once followed this path.
There is the Church of San Pietro alla Magione: its name refers to the houses with porch that hosted members of the Knights Templar who were on their way to Jerusalem.

Along Via Camollia you will see the house of Baldassare Peruzzi, a pupil of the architect and painter Pinturicchio, an artist tied to his hometown, so as to have collaborated with his master to the realization of the frescoes in the Piccolomini Library in Siena Cathedral.
The Church of Santa Maria in Portico in Fontegiusta is the last stop of Via Camollia, it was built in Renaissance style and is one of the religious buildings lesser known by tourists, hough it is an important testimony of the victory of Siena against Florence in the battle of Poggio Imperiale in 1479.

<img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-3264 size-full" title="Santa Maria in Portico church to see in Siena" data-original="https://palazzoravizza.it/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Santa-Maria-in-Portico-a-Fontegiusta-3.jpg" ="Santa Maria in Portico in Fontegiusta guided tour" width="950" height="713" />

The guided tour continues along Via Montanini, Banchi di Sopra and Via dei Pellegrini, arriving in front of the Duomo, undoubtedly the best-known stop from those who went on holiday in Siena.
The center of the itinerary it is here, because a few steps away is the Santa Maria della Scala, which in the Middle Ages was one of the oldest hospitals in Europe.

<img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-3265 size-full" title="Guided tours in Siena" data-original="https://palazzoravizza.it/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Pavimento-Duomo-Siena-4.jpg" ="What to see in Siena historic center" width="950" height="582" />

Thanks to this museum complex you can appreciate the concept of “slow tourism”, in other words the opportunity to visit both the main sights and the most hidden places without haste, with the intent to discover interesting anecdotes about museums, palaces, churches, squares, alleys and glimpses of landscapes that are part of the identity of a town.
The tour also includes a stop at Porta Romana, the main Siena gate, and Orto de’
