Visiting Siena in the summer it&#8217;s nice not only for historical events such as Palio, but also for the many green areas in the center and at a short distance from the city walls.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The parks and the gardens in Siena are worth a visit<\/strong> and in our opinion are important as well as the medieval palaces and churches that characterize this wonderful destination in Tuscany.<br \/>\nTherefore we have picked in this post all the green spaces that you should see during a relaxing holiday in Siena.<\/p>\n<h2>Fonte delle Monache<\/h2>\n<div id=\"attachment_4145\" style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4145\" class=\"wp-image-4145 size-full\" data-original=\"https:\/\/palazzoravizza.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Fonte-delle-Monache.jpg\" =\"Fonte delle Monache in Siena\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-4145\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Credits: http:\/\/www.ecomuseosiena.org\/mappa\/patrimonio-culturale-materiale\/fonte-delle-monache<\/p><\/div>\n<p>At Via delle Sperandie 47 there is the Fonte delle Monache garden (<strong>Fountain of the Nuns<\/strong>) of San Paolo, a hidden area because it is located below the former convent. Here the nuns used to wash clothes without being noticed, today you can visit the fountain thanks to the careful restoration work did by volunteers of the La Diana association. Belleschi, 2007<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Start your walk from Piazza del Campo towards Via Giovanni Dupr\u00e9, until you reach the fountain of the Contrada dell&#8217;Onda. From here, turn right to Via Sant&#8217;Agata and then to the left following the signs for parking \u00abIl Campo\u00bb. The narrow road to the right leads to the <strong>Tolomei Gardens<\/strong>, a park suitable even for children, provided with benches and outdoor games and is ideal for hosting film screenings and concerts.<\/p>\n<p>Note <strong>The Drop sculpture<\/strong> by Tony Cragg, made of travertine and called \u201cthe pear\u201d by the Sienese people.<\/p>\n<h2>Parco Unit\u00e0 d\u2019Italia<\/h2>\n<p><img class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4147 size-full\" data-original=\"https:\/\/palazzoravizza.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/parco-unit\u00e0-italia.jpg\" =\"parco-unit\u00e0-italia\" width=\"734\" height=\"489\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This public park was opened in 2010 and is located in the area of the former Target Practice, at via di Pescaia, a large green area with trails and outdoor fitness equipment. You can also take advantage of the park to organize barbecues or to take a stroll and walk to the Medici Fortress and the Gardens of Lizza, very close to this park.<\/p>\n<h2>La Lizza Gardens<\/h2>\n<p><img class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4148 size-full\" data-original=\"https:\/\/palazzoravizza.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/La-Lizza.jpg\" =\"La Lizza public gardens\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In front of the <strong>Medici Fortress<\/strong> you can admire the gardens of Lizza, whose name derives from the term \u201cCavallerizza\u201d: the place where the knights train.<br \/>\nHead for Piazza Caduti delle Forze Armate and from there explore these gardens embellished with a pond and palaces like the Asilo Monumento, built in memory of Sienese died during the First World War.<\/p>\n<h2>Orto de&#8217; Pecci<\/h2>\n<p><img class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4149 size-full\" data-original=\"https:\/\/palazzoravizza.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/orto-de-pecci.jpg\" =\"orto de pecci ainSiena\" width=\"800\" height=\"302\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We suggested a visit to Orto de&#8217; Pecci also in previous posts (for example <a href=\"https:\/\/palazzoravizza.it\/en\/news-itinerari\/visit-siena-in-3-days\/\" target=\"_blank\">Visit Siena in 3 Days<\/a>); this green oasis is really peculiar, because is a farm and garden since the Middle Age and furthermore also offers a restaurant.
