The prestigious Terra di Siena Film Festival, scheduled from 1st to 5th October, will enrich these days of autumn in the wonderful Tuscan city of Siena. The festival comes to the XV edition and is a great meeting for the Seventh Art fans, that will meet in Siena some of their favorite celebrities.
This year, in fact, the opening will be very stylish with a special guest: the Academy awarded actress Susan Sarandon, that will meet the audience on Saturday 1st October and will get the “Sanese d’oro” by the Rector of Siena University Massimo Vedovelli, an important prize for the talent of this great artist.
The Festival presents many movies dedicated to the defense of human rights and focused on sociocultural issues, a feature that is increased during the years and made the Terra di Siena a landmark not only for cinephiles.
Among the events, all at free entrance, we suggest the following movies: the restored version of “Thelma & Louise” by Ridley Scott, the documentary “Piazza Garibaldi” by Davide Ferrario and Giorgio Mastrorocco, the movies that compete for the awards “Black Bread” by Augusti Villaronga, “Five time champion” by Berndt Mader and “My Best Enemy” by Wolfgang Murnberger.
Among the various locations of the Festival there is the Accademia Musicale Chigiana where, on Wednesday 5th will take place the tribute to Maria Mercader, the actress whom is dedicated a documentary realized by the nephew Andrea De Sica and the screening of the restored movie “Buongiorno, Elefante” directed by Vittorio De Sica in 1952,. Cinema from the past and current trends together, because all the movies in competition are new releases, for five days in the sign of high quality and freedom of expression.
