The opera, since its origins, had as its stage elegant palaces and theaters, so today it is recommended to go to these kinds of concerts in a refined location, rediscovering the masterpieces of opera thanks to a series of events held in Siena.
Our tip is the Siena Italian Opera festival, which will start on 26th March offering on Wednesdays and Saturdays concerts with excerpts from the most famous opera in the world: Tosca, La Boheme, Madama Butterfly, Manon Lescaut, La Traviata, Rigoletto, Le Nozze di Figaro, Il Barbiere di Siviglia, a tribute performed by musicians and singers from all over the world.
The concert venue is the Auditorium di Santo Stefano alla Lizza, formerly a church, renovated in different periods.
In 2009 the church was used as a venue for concerts and cultural events in virtue of its excellent acoustics and the valuable artworks held inside the church, as Madonna col Bambino e santi di Andrea Vanni and the Deposizione di Cristo di Antonio Buonfigli, a compelling reason to visit the Auditorium, located near the public garden Lizza.
It is recommended to buy tickets in advance, all the concerts will begin at 9:15 pm every Wednesday and Saturday of March and April (but is expected to continue in the following months); with Italian Opera you can experience the emotions aroused by the immortal opera masterpieces that have spanned the centuries keeping intact their charm and beauty.
