One of the most successful events of summer comes back: the Nights of Archeology, the special openings of museums, parks and archeological areas during July in Tuscany. We give some advices to who will visit Siena and its province, because this sunny season is ideal for guided tours in the evening, so you can take advantage of every moment of your holiday.
We can start from the Museum Santa Maria della Scala, located in Piazza Duomo n.2, where on Thursday 26th July there will be a guided tour in English at 5:00 pm and, at 9:15 pm, a theatrical guided tour, in other words a show with actors that will tell the history of the museum. If you want to visit also the province, among the venues that offer itineraries and special openings there is the Conservatoire San Carlo in Pienza that hosts the exhibition Tular-Tolle, a series of archeological finds from Etruscan era, coming from the necropolis of Tolle.
Nights of Archeology In SienaIn Poggibonsi, at Archeological Park Poggio Imperiale, you cannot miss the guided tour by night on Saturday 21st July at Castle of Poggio Bonizio, where some actors with period costumes retrace the striking events of Castel history, an original way to discover these enchanting venues. Who wants to appreciate also the local peculiarities, we suggest a visit to Colle val d’Elsa, at Bandinelli Archeological Museum, where on Saturday 21st and 28th July will take place meetings, one dedicated to the discovery of an Etruscan well and the another about the ancient grape varieties, with a debate and a book presentation. After the events you can visit the Museum until midnight.
