Wine tourism in Siena, all the events you cannot miss

Matching DOC wines and street foods may seem unusual, but this bizarre meeting will really happen during Calici di Stelle, the event that each summer promotes the excellence of the wineries with tastings and guided tour in the evening.

The 2016 edition of Calici di Stelle will be held in August from 6th to 14th in Tuscany, however the highlight event will be on 10th, because you can taste, in the participating wineries, the Doc Orcia wine or Brunello di Montalcino combined with the Greek street food, or Vino Nobile di Montepulciano with paella and Spanish tapas, or even the Chianti tripe and lamprey, or the great Tuscan red wines paired with Chianina burgers.

AZIENDA AGRICOLA CANNETO

From August 6 to August 14 from 10:00 to 19:00
Guided tour of the winery and vineyards, panoramic walk (even in cars, motorcycles and bikes) through the company with a view of the Temple of San Biagio, Montepulciano and Montefollonico. The winery will host La Posada Latina: Paella and Spanish Tapas at € 10 per person, including tasting of at least 3 wines and tastings of local products.

The winery will be open all day, from 10:00 onwards. You can taste two glasses of wine (DOCG Brunello and Rosso DOC) at a cost of € 10 per person and visit the wine cellar for free.
The winery will host Torotosco with Bico (torta al testo Tuscan version) with sausage and sautéed vegetables and Chianina hot dog

FATTORIA DEL COLLE

The winery will host “La Taverna Greca” with Greek speciies such as Gyros, Souvlaki Pita.
Thanks to the partnership with the association Streetfood, this year Fattoria del Colle will host the street food Taverna Graca by Erjon. Since the afternoon throughout the evening will propose the typical Greek dishes.
At 20.00 Roberta Archetti, chef at Fattoria del Colle and Donatella Varlunghi chef at Osteria delle Crete of San Giovanni d’Asso will join Erion. They will present a buffet of Tuscan dishes with a touch of Greek cuisine following the theme of the event. There will be also a traditional Tuscan menu. Donatella Cinelli Colombini propose its two wines Rosa di Tetto IGT and Orcia DOC Leone Rosso.
At the end of the buffet, dance under the trees illuminated by production designer Philip Robinson (the same who worked in the movie Four Weddings and a Funeral) and fun games.

Wednesday August 10 from 12:00 to 22:00, the main day of Calici di Stelle, the splendid terrace of Salcheto, surrounded by amazing vineyards overlooking the hamlet of Montepulciano, will host the mobile kitchen of Happy Train. You can taste sandwiches stuffed with the best grilled Chianina, perhaps with the addition of garden lettuce and pecorino di Pienza. Enjoy burgers and Sangiovese surrounded by a wonderful natural scenery!

TENUTA LA BRACCESCA
Tenuta La Braccesca open for tours and tastings from 8 to 12 August from 10:00 to 13:00 and 15:00 to 18:00
On August 10 Tenuta La Braccesca opens for Calici di Stelle offering a tour of the winery and tasting of our two D.O.C. produced: Montepulciano and Cortona.
The unmissable proposals of the Tenuta are Nobile La Braccesca matched with Chianina Burgers by Truck Food that will be with us during the whole day. For those who want to taste other wines of the estate will be available for sale at the counter
The Tenuta will be open on August 12 from 15:00 to 20:00, the day’s topic will be “Game and wine flavors”. The Braccesca offers a walk with aperitif in the grove with a Goblet of Achelo, our Cortona DOC Syrah. At 17:00 will start the Show Cooking directed by an expert cook.
