Siena is preparing to welcome 2020 with a large, widespread party, dedicated to music and fun. The events to celebrate the new year in the city will involve many points in the historic center with concerts, DJ sets and shows waiting for midnight. An exceptional event will make the New Year’s Eve in Piazza del Campo truly special: it is “Up&Down Un Capodanno normale” by the Tuscan comedian Paolo Ruffini, along with actors with disabilities from the company Mayor Von Frinzius.

The evening in Piazza del Campo will begin around 9 pm with musical entertainment, and then continue with the theatrical show which is making many sold outs in different cities of Italy. “Up & Down” is a brief journey to discover human relationships and the meaning of “diversity”: comic, ironic but also moving, it wants to show how “we are all disabled, differently normal and wonderfully different”.
After the midnight toast, Le Voci Sole will perform on stage. A group of singers who will offer a repertoire of covers from 70’s rock to funk and contemporary pop, up to the songs that have made music history. 80 Febbre, a Sienese band, will continue to enliven the square until late at night.
But this will certainly not be the only scenario of the New Year in Siena. Food stands, music and initiatives for everyone will be the protagonists in the various squares starting from 12 noon on 31st December.

At 6 pm in Piazza Tolomei the Asd Spazio Libero Association will perform a dance choreography in hip hop style. While at 9:00 pm there will be a concert by the Sienese group I Jaguari, with a repertoire of famous Italian and international songs, followed by a DJ set. Piazza del Mercato will become a great vintage stage with the Siena Swing Mood dance school, which will cheer up the whole evening at a swing pace.
In Piazza Indipendenza the music and Latin dances will be the masters: from 6:00 pm to 2:00 am the party will be led by the band Latinando En La Calle with Dj Set and percussion. The Logge del Papa will instead become the base of the Girlesque street band, which will offer a traveling music show, along Via di Pantaneto to Piazza Postierla, from 7:00 pm to 1:00 am. There will be dinners and paid parties in various places in Siena: we point out “Tunnel 2020” at the Medici Fortress, with the best DJs in town, and a New Year’s Milonga at the Foyer of the Teatro dei Rinnovati with the Oblivion Tango school.
The events of January 1st in Siena
After a crackling New Year’s Eve, Siena will continue being in a party mood on January 1st. In addition to the “A light show” initiative, which will illuminate the Palazzo delle Poste in Piazza Matteotti, it will be possible to continue to enjoy the city thanks to the Paese dei Divertimenti at the Giardini della Lizza. The scheduled exhibitions will also be open, such as “Tex 70 anni di un mito”, “Paginechaurren”, “Angeli e Artisti”, “Bauhaus Generation” at the Santa Maria alla Scala Museum Complex and “I Presepi dal Mondo” at the Magazzini del Sale. At 5:00 pm at the Teatro dei Rozzi there will be a concert with Tony Washington Gospel Singers, organized by Toscana Gospel Festival.
