The end of the summer is the best period to go to festivals, feasts and events in Siena and surroundings, to know the local traditions and to savor the Tuscan products. In addition to enogastronomy, the feather in the cap of the region, there are intiatives like the Beer Village, scheduled on 8th and 9th September in Bibbiano, close to Buonconvento, and dedicated to all the beer lovers.
At the festival you can try the best Italian and Belgian handcrafted beers, discover the ways to produce it and the differences among the many available kinds. The night of 7th September there will be a preview of the festival, De Dolle’s Night, about the beer label De Dolle and its three speciies on tap: Stout De Dolle 2010, Stille Nacht 2011, Arabier 2012.
The official calendar will start at 12:00 am on Saturday and includes tasting sessions (reservation is required) with Kuaska, aka Lorenzo Dabove, considered the greatest expert of beer in Italy and, among others, the professor Denis de Keukeleire of Ghent University, aka the Hop-Professor, that will talk about beer in Belgium during a workshop on Sunday at 5:00 pm. All the meetings include tastings of local dishes to get along with beer.
At closing, live music and the Homebrewers contest, with the final award. The Village offers to the families the baby parking service, with the animators that will take care of your children during the festival. The list of contributors brewers is wide, so there will be a great choice among handcrafted and high quality beers.
We suggest you also a visit to Buonconvento, town located in Valle dell’Ombrone, part of Crete Senesi, where to see the Museum of Sacred Art of Val d’Arbia and the Museum of Sharecropping, in addition to the art nouveau palaces in the historical center.
