Festivals you cannot miss in Siena

The month of October is full of events in Siena: in this period are held festivals, exhibitions and shows addressed to a wide audience, including, of course, the tourists who choose this time of year to visit the town.
As we reported earlier edition of Siena Art Photo Travel festival (in the post The best of international photography in Siena), we recommend again this photo festival as well as the Confi.Dance international festival of contemporary dance, scheduled from 20th to 23rd October.

The target of the event is explained by the pun of the festival title: « confidence », which is transformed for the occasion, to « dance ». The festival, in fact, aims to promote the language of contemporary dance, allowing the viewer to enter into an intimate relationship, close and almost confidential with the protagonists of the stage.

The private space of familiarity and intimacy connect artists with the public. During the various editions have performed in Confi.Dance companies from Northern Europe, Eastern Europe and Russia; this year, however, will be the turn of Belgium, Portugal, Poland and Israel.
It starts on 20th with Blue Earth, choreographed by Francesca Selva, a show co-produced by the Cantiere Internazionale d’Arte di Montepulciano, then continue on 21st, with AS14″ choreographed by Ariella Vidach, then will perform the company Zawirowania. On 22nd there will be the Portuguese dance company De Almada and the Belgian IreneK. Grand finale on 23rd with the Israelis Liat Dror & Nir Ben Gal. The venue will be the Teatro Rinnovati, where the public can watch the shows not only sat in the audience, but also on the stage, in direct contact with the dancers.

Another goal of Confi.Dance is to create partnerships with other companies present at the festival and with partners of the Sienese territory, by networking ideas and projects and allowing artists to communicate and exchange experiences.
The contemporary dance festival, sponsored by the city of Siena, Tuscany Entertainment Foundation and Embassy of Israel, is supported by Compagnia Francesca Selva. All shows start at 9:15 pm. Tickets: full € 8, reduced € 5.

For those who love photography, in November, the targets will be all focused on Siena Art Photo Travel Festival. The event is a tribute to visual art, divided into individual and collective exhibitions, workshops, photo tours, seminars, conferences, screenings, guided tours and other events in the territory including the Award Ceremony which of 2016 edition of Siena International photography Awards, one of the most important international photography competitions: 45,000 images from 127 countries around the world.

The winning photos, along with hundreds of the best photographs submitted, will set up the exhibition Beyond the Lens. Museums, exhibition galleries, libraries and theaters are some of the venues that will host the other 10 photographic exhibitions of the Festival.

The Siena Art Photo Travel will offer unique opportunities to deepen the photographic technique thanks to the participation of major international photographers.
Along with the workshops, there will be guided tours and excursions dedicated to one of the most photographed and visited areas in the world: a photo tour of Chianti at sunset, and a trail to discover Siena at dawn.

Don’t miss the appointment with One Shot Together (30th October at 12:30 am) during which all participants of the contest will gather for a souvenir photo in Piazza del Campo.
