Rapolano Terme
Just at 30 kilometers from Siena there is Rapolano Terme, a town that hosts two Spas, Terme di San Giovanni and Antica Querciolaia. The first is located 2 kilometers from the town and is active since 1954: the Terme di San Giovanni have pools fed by thermal mineral water wells and areas dedicated to mud therapy.
Terme Antica Querciolaia, at a short distance from the modern area of Rapolano, is open since 1864 and has therapeutic hot pools at various temperatures (from 25 degrees up to 39 degrees); furthermore this thermal center also offers beauty treatments for face and body.
San Casciano dei Bagni
In San Casciano dei Bagni, a hamlet located at 90 km from Siena, there are 42 springs and it is the third place in Europe in terms of thermal water flow.
Arrived in the historic center, you can follow a path that leads to the Bagno Grande and the Bagno Bossolo, old washhouses fed by thermal waters, while the most popular Spa is Fonteverde, which overlooks Val d’Orcia.
At Fonteverde there are 7 swimming pools with thermal water and are available a variety of wellness treatments. Fonteverde is also an architectural gem, wanted by the Grand Duke Ferdinando I de’ Medici as a tribute to the enchantment of the Val d’Orcia and the unique features of the springs in this area.
Who is traveling with his pet, it will be happily surprised by the presence of a swimming pool for 4-legged friends, a sign of great attention to the needs of tourists who never leave alone their pets.
Bagni San Filippo
At the slopes of Mount Amiata rises Bagni San Filippo, a hamlet close to Castiglione d’Orcia and about 67 km far from Siena. This place boasts the presence of the first thermal swimming pool in the province of Siena, reachable following a path through a series of steaming hot streams.
Fosso Bianco is the name of the free thermal baths in Bagni San Filippo, an area marked by the cascade called Balena Bianca (white whale), which owes its name to the similarity with the mouth of a whale.
Here the water gushes at 48 degrees and the scenery that surrounds the pools is quite extraordinary: it is an oasis of intense and contrasting colors, from white limestone to the green wood.
After visiting Siena, enjoy a tour of the thermal baths and discover the benefits of the sulphurous waters; when you will come back you will feel relaxed and rejuvenated.
