Russian ballets and one of the greatest masterpieces of world literature: a match which you can see exclusively on Tuesday 4th February at Teatro dei Rinnovati, a show that declares Siena as ideal stage for culture in all its shapes.
Don Quixote is a novel by Miguel de Cervantes and the dance show is curated by the Russian National Ballet, with choreography by Marius Petipa and the adaptation of Alexander Gorsky adaptation, one of the most successful plays of XIX century.
Today we have the opportunity to enjoy this ballet performance as if it were a new work, thanks to the talent of Russian ballet, with music by Minkus and choreography by Petipa that charmed the public of the Imperial Ballet of St. Petersburg in 1871. The Teatro dei Rinnovati will welcome the prestigious dance company and the numerous spectators who want to spend an exciting and unique evening.
To learn more about the history of Don Quixote a side event is scheduled on 13th February, the free screening of the movie “Don Quixote” by Orson Welles at the auditorium of the High School St. Chiara at 16:30 (the address is Via Valdimontone, 1); this initiative is really interesting, because this film adaptation by Welles was never completed, but completed by Jesus Franco, emerging only in 1992 after 14 years of filming.
