Siena always turns on the curiosity of tourists and inhabitants with cultural initiatives designed to enhance the unique heritage of the town of Palio.
February is generally considered a month not suitable for travel, so the initiative called February at the Museum aims to reverse this cliché through thematic guided tours and theatrical shows at museums.
We advise to follow these events to all the travelers who want to know the history of the artworks held at the Santa Maria della Scala and at the Civic Museum, the two museums involved in the initiative.
The entrance to the museum complex of Santa Maria and the temporary exhibition “Il corpo e l’anima” will be free every Monday and Wednesday from 10:30 am to 4:30 pm and from Thursday to Sunday from 10:30 am to 6:30 pm; the thematic guided tours, which cost 5 euros, are scheduled on Sunday morning, from 11:00 am to 12:30 am, and Thursday afternoon, from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm.
One of the next guided tours, on 12th February, will be focused on the beautiful frescoes hosted in the Pilgrim’s Hall, one the most important works of the XV century, while the last event is scheduled on 26th February and includes a visit to the fountain designed by Jacopo della Quercia.
The actors of the LaLut company interpret the historical characters that will guide visitors through the Civic Museum: here the theatrical guides (scheduled on 7th, 14th, 21th and 28th February at 4:30 pm) will be an exclusive chance to learn something new about Duccio di Buoninsegna and Simone Martini. The cost of the ticket is € 9 including reservation, but is available favorable formulas for families with children.
