Who visit Siena for the first time is struck by the ancient charm of streets, palaces and squares, largely intact from the Middle Ages, and finds the beauty in the natural landscape that surrounds the town, the hills of Tuscany which has inspired many artists over the centuries.
The same sensation it’s worth for children, because Siena is a place without traffic, easily accessible and full of initiatives dedicated to families, such as Siena For Kids, which from September 3rd until March 26th 2017 gives the opportunity to families with kids to easily explore the city and to join educational and entertaining events.

Guided tours, workshops and children’s games in Siena
Before your next stay in the city, here are some events dedicated to kids: the Medici Fortress, for example, on 17th and 18th September will host Nella Vecchia Fattoria (In the Old Farm), a village-camp to bringing children to nature and educate them to respect animals.
The Fortress will be transformed into a farm to house Maremma cows with calves, foals brady, Maremma horses, mules, sheep, birds of prey, working dogs and poultry.
You can also visit the stands of local producers and artisans, watch demonstrations of ancient crafts and performances by the cowboys with lacciara.
The event is free and without reservation.
The Botanical Garden offers, every Saturday and Sunday, a series of workshops for children that consist of the collection and identification of mushrooms, looking for medicinal plants and preparation of ointments.
Museums are an essential part of Sienese routes, for this reason you should join Small Steps, guided tours suitable for children, focused on the meaning of works of art explained in a playful and original way.
The first event will be on October 30th and to follow every Sunday with so many opportunities to tell the masterpieces of Siena.
It will start at 11:00 am in front of the Palazzo Pubblico, the meeting point, and then it will continue visiting the National Art Gallery and learn to distinguish paintings, objects and characters of the Sienese history.
Guided tours for children will take place also at the Civic Museum, a treasure trove of works of art that deserve to be discovered even by small explorers.
