For 5 days Piazza del Campo will host the most prestigious Italian chocolatiers as part of a festival, CiocoSì, dedicated to that irresistible temptation called chocolate.
The event now came to 5th edition, will take place from 15th to 20th March at the following times: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday: 10:00 am to 8:00 pm; Friday and Saturday: 10.00 am to midnight.
In our opinion CiocoSì is a valuable chance to taste the finest sweets and watch competitions among expert chefs and contests among talented barmen.
In addition, the event involves not only Piazza del Campo, but also the restaurants in Siena that will offer menus chocolate based, not just as dessert.
Chocolate tastings, cooking classes and more in Piazza del Campo
The wide range of initiatives distinguishes this festival, conceived by ChocoMoments and realized with the sponsorship of the City of Siena, Confesercenti, Confcommercio, CNA and Coldiretti.
There will be tango shows curated by OblivionTango and Urban Choco Run and Walk by Il Maratoneta Sport; who is able to play chess can have fun with chocolate chess tournament (excellent for brain stimulation!); those who want to see the chefs in action can follow the cooking shows of the International Chef Academy and Scuola di cucina di Lella; in addition there will be two exciting challenges: MasterChocoChef, involving Senese chefs, and ChocoBarmanShow, with the most brilliant barmen that will offer very original cocktails.
The festival is free and open to everyone, so families on holiday with children can join it and engage children in Baby Ciock, the space dedicated to kids, with educational workshops and contests.
Since Easter is very close (this year is celebrated on March 27th), Piazza del Campo will be embellished by the Balloon Art balloon sculptures and the shop windows set up with handmade chocolate eggs.
In the same venue, however, take place periodically the medieval handicraft market where to find local products of excellent quality
Who wants to learn the secrets of top chocolatiers can join the basic courses of 2 hours by the pastry chef Domenico Spadafora and the chocolatier Giancarlo Maestrone (booking by e-mail is required: giancarlo.maestrone@gmail.com).
Of course isn’t possible to condense in a short time the competence and talent of the chef, but you can learn to prepare some delicacies made with chocolate and take home something different from the usual souvenirs.
If you are looking for excellence in every aspect, Siena awaits you with its natural treasures, its precious work of art and the delicious creations of the artisans of taste.
