Planning a vacation with kids isn’t easy, as a child needs to be involved in fun activities and possibly educational to not get bored and take the most out of staying in a new place.
We recommended what to do in Siena with children and, on this occasion, we suggest you an area of a museum designed specifically for kids, the Children’s Art Museum at Santa Maria della Scala.

This area of the most renowned Sienese museum complex is dedicated to children aged 3 to 11 and has been designed to make art accessible through a series of works, educational activities and workshops also along with relative.
The peculiarities of the Children’s Museum consist of a collection of works of art, displayed in the San Leopoldo’s room, which have children’s theme and belong to different periods, allowing the deepening of the different artistic styles and historical contexts in which works are born.
The typology of the works of art is as varied as the museum houses paintings, photos, sculptures and videos, and special exhibitions are organized annually, such as the international exhibition of childhood illustration.

Workshops, housed in the Spezieria, are obviously based on the children’s age: there are activities suitable for children aged 3 to 6 and others dedicated to children aged 6 to 11.
The opening hours of the museum are: Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, Friday 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm.

The goal of all guided tours and workshops is to give the younger the specific language of the art, for example, thanks to visits with actors, that perform characters explaining the origins of a particular work and involve children in practical activities, inviting them to combine colors, shapes and materials and draw inspiration from what they have seen in the museum.

Book a stay in Siena with your family is without a doubt a great idea because in every season of the year there are events to attend, attractions to visit and interesting places also for kids, who thanks to this museum will learn to appreciate the creativity and talent of artists.
